This area is very outlying and the habitants are mostly Maya-Indians. We are looking for a medical supervisor for the health post in Pojom.. Job description: - general consultations in the health post - prenatal consultations in de health post - permanent availability for emergencies - in case of emergency, transfer to the nearest hospital (7h drive with a pick-up) - training of the local health workers - training of the traditional midwives - consultation in other outlying villages - organizing information sessions about various topics ( family planning, hygiene,…) Profile: - doctor, nurse or other medically degree - tropical medicine studies is a plus - mastering of laboratory techniques is a plus - major motivation in exceptional circumstances - respect and understanding for other cultures and their habits - a basis of Spanish - flexible personality - willing to cooperate with European volunteers and local promoters Our offer: - a local wage, but ‘Vivir en Amor’ is not an official employer - a health insurance in Guatemala - plane tickets once a year - living in a health post: separated living room, kitchen area and bathroom - permanent free access to the internet - continued support from Belgium - offer for minimum 1 year - preferred starting in the autumn of 2009 ( before the end of December 2009) If you are interested in the job you can mail to kurt.debuyck@gmail.com or hannegua@itelgua.com before July 15, 2009.
